Gig 'Em Aggies!

We are all very excited around here. We got the good news today that our daughter was accepted into Texas A&M~ My husband and I both went there and we are very excited for her!

Now it's scheduling (crossing fingers nothing conflicts with our Europe trip this summer), housing, furniture, books....the fun part begins.

I am so excited to see what God has planned for her. She has her whole world ahead of her. I am going to be concentrating on that, not that she is going away...NO! I am focusing on how GOOD this is going to be for her. She will thrive and I am so excited!

And the winner is.......

Giveaway No. 2

** This giveaway is closed ****

I've had the sewing bug lately. I've been seeing some wonderful tutorials around that have motivated me to try something new, take a break from the heat and metal and work with soft things.

I found this really neat and easy tutorial for cute little zipper purses made out of felt (here). Its a really well written tutorial and the pouches are just too adorable I had to try it.

Here are my results and I am going to give them away. To enter I ask the following..

1. Be a follower of my blog, and

2. Leave me a comment and tell me about your happy place.

I'll pick a winner from the comments on Friday morning! Good luck~

A Random Trip Leads to Obsession.

Well, maybe not obsession, but maybe a new interest and a little collecting. I had the vintage bug today so I went to this wonderful store nearby that is always PACKED with things. It gets a little overwhelming, but it cures my bug and I usually walk out with a couple of treasures. Today I found three.

I have always loved these:

Now, I have begun with these:

I am going to use them, instead of display. The back one seems perfect for letters and cards, the one on the left...I'm thinking a fruit bowl, and the smaller on the right will be perfect for the drink packets we have (via, crystal light, etc!)

Nice pops of color and utility until I can get a central display!

Pure Imagination

When I was a kid, this was one of my favorite movies...and this was my favorite part.

There is a commercial running now that has this song in it. It's funny...when I hear it I automatically feel happy. I can't explain it, but I love it.

Actually, it still is one of my favorites.

Finding Tranquility

Tranquility is something I have been having a little trouble finding lately. My shop has been pretty busy and the longer we wait to hear about my daughter being accepted to college or not seems to build the stress. I find myself reciting "Do not be anxious about anything but with prayer and thanksgiving make your requests known to God" over and over everytime I feel the anxiety building.

Tonight I went searching for a little "tranquil spot" and found these lovely cottages. I know my peace and tranquility is in God, these nice spots would sure help a soul!

Searching for a Needle in a Haystack...

I made some new earrings today. They are small fine silver balls. I tossed them into my tumbler along with my other projects. When it was time to empty the tumbler...this is what I saw.

This is what I was looking for:

Problem 1: they are the same shape...

Problem 2: they are the same color

I found them finally.... after fifteen minutes!

They are really cute and nothing hardens and polishes like tumbling...but I need to find a better way.

Backyard Visitors

Here in Houston we don't get many beautiful birds visiting us in our yards. This blue jay was a nice surprise. I do like the little sparrows though. They are fun and silly. We also have a pair of Cardinals that live somewhere close, but they did not stay long enough for me to get my camera.

This is my Chile Pepper...she is a resident, not a visitor.

Front Page Today

This was on the front page of etsy tonight. My necklace was featured, yay!
Thank you artractions for your wonderful treasury. You should check out her shop. She has wonderful journals and gorgeous artwork!

My Baby Turned 20 but I'm not that old........

How can it be? My little girl is 20? No way...that means I would have had to had her when I was just a kid. I remember turning 20, I still feel 20 (except for the times when I can't see stuff). What the heck is going on?

I am blessed beyond explanation to be her mother...even if we are the same age! Happy birthday my dearest daughter! I love you more than I can ever say.

(mine is the middle one)

Long Time Favorite

BaconSquareFarm on etsy has been one of my favorite shops for a long time. The pictures will speak for themselves. Every garden needs one or two of these.

Restless Crafter

I am not sure what is causing my restlessness of late. Maybe it's the beautiful weather, maybe it's spring fever, maybe it's the waiting to hear about my daughter's college. Either way, I just can't seem to be still.

I saw this tutorial the other day and couldn't get it out of my mind. Although I don't really sew much I thought this would be a fun thing to make and a perfect place to put my yarn and granny squares which seem to be spilling out everywhere. (another project I started)

So, having a free morning (which I really don't but wanted to make some time for me) I worked on this basket. I enlarged it (double the base fabric size and increase the sides by half). And sewed away. The tutorial was really easy to follow and made this project really easy.

Now I have a cute basket to put my yarn in. I also got the sewing bug out of my system.

Extra Info: my cute little pincushion was purchased from RoseKepler on Etsy. The fabric was purchased from MaterialGal on etsy

In Limbo

We are, and have been waiting for a few weeks now to hear if my daughter will be going away to college next fall.

She chose to stay close to home her freshman year but now is ready to go. I am praying she gets in because it will be SO good for her...

but this waiting is driving me nuts! I'm trying not to add to her anxiety...so I bottle mine up.

oh, this waiting is hard....................

My Backyard

I can't seem to get enough of the outdoors lately. Here are a few treats from my backyard.
